The last post was the All-Time NBA Rank and had a few people saying their opinions, which is GREAT! Because analyzing sports is a opinion. What will happen, who is better, is J.J. Watt a super genetic freak-a-zoid? These questions and more generate opinions all over the sports world and that is why sports are great. Some opinions/predictions are quite farfetched like Todd McShay's latest mock draft.
Todd Gurley at 6!?! One, it is up for debate if he is the best running back. Two, he is coming off an injury and spending the 6th overall pick on him is not that bright. Three, don't the Jets have more important needs to address than a runningback?
But that is his opinion, so he can do whatever he wants.
This post is going to be a full NFL mock draft.
Yeah, that's right. Seven rounds, two hundred and fifty-six selections that are sure not to happen once draft day comes and trades start to fly. I was pretty good in my first round selections last year, until an early top-10 trade ruined everything!
Here is the how this mock draft worked. For starters, this mock contains zero trades that haven't been already made. You can't really predict what player will go to what team, so you even fathom predicting trades that involve switching draft picks, players, souls, etc. I have listed each selection, pick-by-pick-round-by-round and have also listed a summary of what that team selected at the end of the mock draft. Just scroll down a bit to find it.
Before we start, let me tell you how I came up with this mock draft. I ranked the players in their respected positions using three different sites; CBS, ESPN and DraftTek. I took the average of what that player was ranked and how their average turned out to be is the order they are ranked in their position category. I did this because I do not have time to scout all of these players accurately and combining three useful sites will get a good universal player rating. I then ranked over 150 players into a best available list that I used until that list was done. Many players drafted in the six or seventh are just fillers to a team's needs and that is what those picks basically are. Now to a how I selected the pick for each team. DrafTek has a page on their site that has inputs for every team's draft needs. This is the best model I have seen that clearly ranks the importance of every position for a team that helps greatly when building a mock draft. Once a player has been selected, that input value change to reflect how the team addressed those needs; aka if you select a player in the first round, you are highly unlikely to address that position again unless you need two of that position. That is the gist of it. If you have any questions, just ask me.
