NFL Draft Advice

I know this is sort of last minute, as there is less than five hours away from the draft, but figured I would do this anyway. No GIFs, just going to speed through this.

NFL Draft Advice for each team. I necessarily won't say who each team should pick, but what I would do in there situation

1. Tampa Bay: Play it Smart. You are embarking on a journey that the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders did when they drafting Leaf and Russell. More specifically Russell. A great college quarterback, good arm, pro-style fit, but character issues that will leave your team scrambling to recover. Didn't you see how it worked out for the Browns last year? Connor Shaw was the QB for a few games and then had to sign McCown. Don't resign McCown next year when you just got rid of him. Make the character choice.

2. Tennessee: Avoid a QB after 1. In fact, go ahead and trade down. You need a outside pass rush and a good interior defensive lineman. Slide back and let a team in desperate desperate need a QB give away picks for him. You will be the one smiling 2 first round picks.

3. Jacksonville: You need a defensive end. Even with a wide receiver in this class, it want progress Bortles even more. Teams will just cover that one wide receiver and put a safety on Julius Thomas. You need a defense that can keep you in the game, not a weapon that will help Bortles get 75 more yards per game.

4. Oakland: If your primary need in the draft is a WR, you trade back. Unless you are like my Falcons four years ago and give away a future first round pick to get a WR. There are plenty of good WR's in this class, including potential first round guys that might be there in the second round. Trade Back!

5. Washington: Draft the best player on your board. Your team needs lots of help and trying to fix that offense right now is a lost cause. Best player available is your safest choice.

6. New York Jets: 3-4 Outside Linebacker. You got Decker last year and Brandon Marshall this year, along with some talent at WR. Don't draft another offensive weapon. If Geno can't succeed with those two guys, than obviously the problem is Geno and not more weapons!

7. Chicago: Draft Defense. New system (3-4 now) and your defense last year was complete garbage when the team has been playing in the 4-3 for years. Don't draft a WR because you lost Marshall. John Fox is the coach, which means you will be running the ball more. Congrats Forte. Get the best defensive player maker available and rebuild that once great Chicago defense.

8. Atlanta: Edge Rusher. It can be argued that with a pass rush the Falcons would have won the Super Bowl a few years ago when they lost to the 49ers in the NFC Championship game. It can also be argued that I am full of crap. Get Dante Fowler or Beasley, no matter what.

9. New York Giants: Offensive or Defensive line. Either would work here. The running game and passing game should be fine. And you have a great secondary. So beef up the interior and try not to make a "sexy" pick.

10. St. Louis: Draft an Offensive lineman. Again. You don't have your quarterback of the future. But when you do, you will have one hell of an offensive line to protect him and run the football. Look how good it worked for Romo last year.

11. Minnesota: Piss Adrian Peterson off even more, because he deserves it. Get a great WR and let Teddy air it out even more. If the face of your franchise says he wants to play for the Cowboys, then let him rot of old game and when he joins them, he will be useless. Sorry AP, you just aren't very likeable anymore.

12. Cleveland: Interior Defensive line. Leonard Williams will be gone by now, but there are a handful of first round nose guards that will be great fits on your team. And don't give away your two first round picks to get a quarterback, but if you do draft Winston, because Cleveland will be one hell of a party then with him, Manziel and Gordon.

13. New Orleans: Defensive. Don't worry about the offense. Drew Brees is on the downslope and your best receiver was traded away for a Center and a first round pick (I do think that trade was golden be the Saints, and no reference to their colors). Ingram will be getting the ball more next year, slowing down the pace of the game, in which the defense will need to make more plays. Get a guy that can hold down the trenches and rush the passer.

14. Miami: Draft a WR. Don't trade up or down. Stay where you are at and just get the next best receiver. You have no weapons on offense, except for Jordan Cameron, who pulled a LeBron and bolted for South Beach after the organization couldn't give him a good QB or a WR who wasn't a trouble maker.

15. San Francisco: Best player available. Don't get fancy and draft a guy that will "get you to the Super Bowl" next year. That is more farfetched than saying Greg Hardy is a mentally stable human being. Your management ran your team into the ground, so just get the best player available and maybe you'll get ride of some decision-makers.

16. Houston: Give J.J. Watt a best friend. Right now Watt does all the work defensively and offensively it seems. Beef up that defensive line with a guy that plays alongside Watt (still have Clowney on the outside) and let's see how many points team's score.

17. San Diego: Defensive line. You need help on the end and interior of the link. Just get the best player available. My guess is the next best Nose Guard.

18. Kansas City: Charles wants to get into the playoffs and win the MVP. He is the only guy on your offense that has done anything in the past 5 years, so make him happy. Give him an offensive tackle to run behind and let Alex Smith throw it over the top to Maclin on the play-action.

19. Cleveland: Linebacker or offensive lineman. If you still have this pick and don't trade it away, don't reach for a QB, WR or another offensive weapon. Play it smart and get a offensive lineman or a guy to plug in that defense. Inside Linebacker would be nice.

20. Philadelphia: Offensive lineman or defense. Predicting what Chip Kelly will do is like saying what Tyler the Creator will do next. You just don't know. But hopefully Chip keeps it sane and beefs up the offensive line for Murray to run throw or improves the defense, so they don't have to play in a shootout every week. But I have a feeling Chip likes that.

21. Cincinnati: Offensive lineman. Fourth pick in a row where I mentioned offensive lineman and I believe it. There are a lot of valuable lineman in this class, (defensive line and edge rushers are the best in the class though) and Cincinnati needs a OT. They have two great runningbacks in Hill and Benard and a deep threat with Green. Run the ball, limit Dalton's mistake and use Green when you need him.

22. Pittsburgh: A piece in the 3-4 defense. I'm not sure what piece, but don't worry about the offense. It is going to be REALLY good next year. Just make sure your defense and limit the other team.

23. Detroit: Defensive Tackle. You just lost Fairley and Suh. You might not even get a talent that is better than either, but you need somone. If not, team's are are just going to run the ball down your throat and going to rely on Stafford to help you come back. You know, you don't want that to happen.

24. Arizona Cardinals: Some guy on defense. Preferably on the defensive line or in the linebacker core (Outside). The offense has the ability to be good once again and until Palmer got hurt, the Cardinals looked like one of the best team's in the NFC. No lie. If they can keep the defense playing at a high level, the Cardinals will play at a hard level.

25. Carolina Panthers: Protect Newton. We all know that you aren't going to give up on Cam and that you are going to pay him a lot of money. Protect your investment with an offensive lineman and maybe get a good quarterbacks coach.

26. Baltimore: Defensive secondary. Baltimore needs a play maker in the secondary again. I don't think Collins will be here, if he is snatch him up, but there will be plenty of good cornerbacks.

27. Dallas: Defensive line. Your offensive line will keep you in the game with the ground game (Best O-line in the league). Time to spruce up your defensive line. End or Tackle it doesn't matter.

28. Denver: Offensive Tackle. Make Peyton's farewell years a pleasant one or two or three. Protect the quarterback how can't take that many more hits and someone that will allow the ground game to flourish and take the pressure off of him.

29. Indianapolis: Defense. I don't care where, you just need it. Obviously not on positions your filled during free agency, but you don't have to worry about your offense at all. Well except for the offensive line.

30. Green Bay: Interior defense. Defensive line or interior linebackers. That offense will be more explosive as ever next year, now you just need a defensive line or interior linebackers to stop the run, so you can beat the Seahawks.

31. New Orleans: Again, great trade by the Saints when they traded with Seattle. Get another defensive playmaker here or another kid on the offensive line (OT, OG or OC) to help that running game and make Brees' life easier and easier for the next kid at QB.

32. New England: Get a Wide Receiver for once. For year's you have made Tom Brady throw it to no-name white guys, washed up old WR's and a great tight end, who doesn't protect himself. Give him an actual threat to throw to and maybe he can get close to that record he had with Moss.

There it is. My advice for every team picking in the first round tonight. Sorry, Seahawks. Maybe if your coach would give in to the fact that Lynch is the best player on the offense, you would still be drafting in the first round. And I almost forgot Buffalo. Wait, where is Buffalo?

If there are spelling errors, ignore it. I didn't proof read.

Full NFL Mock Draft

Hello people that actually read this.

The last post was the All-Time NBA Rank and had a few people saying their opinions, which is GREAT! Because analyzing sports is a opinion. What will happen, who is better, is J.J. Watt a super genetic freak-a-zoid? These questions and more generate opinions all over the sports world and that is why sports are great. Some opinions/predictions are quite farfetched like Todd McShay's latest mock draft.

Todd Gurley at 6!?! One, it is up for debate if he is the best running back. Two, he is coming off an injury and spending the 6th overall pick on him is not that bright. Three, don't the Jets have more important needs to address than a runningback?

But that is his opinion, so he can do whatever he wants.

This post is going to be a full NFL mock draft.

Yeah, that's right. Seven rounds, two hundred and fifty-six selections that are sure not to happen once draft day comes and trades start to fly. I was pretty good in my first round selections last year, until an early top-10 trade ruined everything!

Here is the how this mock draft worked. For starters, this mock contains zero trades that haven't been already made. You can't really predict what player will go to what team, so you even fathom predicting trades that involve switching draft picks, players, souls, etc. I have listed each selection, pick-by-pick-round-by-round and have also listed a summary of what that team selected at the end of the mock draft. Just scroll down a bit to find it.

Before we start, let me tell you how I came up with this mock draft. I ranked the players in their respected positions using three different sites; CBS, ESPN and DraftTek. I took the average of what that player was ranked and how their average turned out to be is the order they are ranked in their position category. I did this because I do not have time to scout all of these players accurately and combining three useful sites will get a good universal player rating. I then ranked over 150 players into a best available list that I used until that list was done. Many players drafted in the six or seventh are just fillers to a team's needs and that is what those picks basically are. Now to a how I selected the pick for each team. DrafTek has a page on their site that has inputs for every team's draft needs. This is the best model I have seen that clearly ranks the importance of every position for a team that helps greatly when building a mock draft. Once a player has been selected, that input value change to reflect how the team addressed those needs; aka if you select a player in the first round, you are highly unlikely to address that position again unless you need two of that position. That is the gist of it. If you have any questions, just ask me.

Here are what the abbreviations mean, if you don't already know:

  • RBF = Featured Runningback

  • FB = Fullback

NBA All-Time Ranks

It has been a couple of weeks since my last March Madness post. Honestly it was because that one was VERY long and took a lot of my free time to complete it. If I did one last week it would have just bowed down to the greatness of the last post.

So what if I only had two of the final four teams (including my prediction for National Champion), I wanted North Carolina to win it all anyway. Damn you Wisconsin.

On a positive note for North Carolina, in this post I will be giving out the All-Time Ranking of NBA players. Sort of like the one for the NFL All-Time Players. If you haven't seen that one, be sure to check it out immediately. CLICK HERE FOR SOMETHING AWESOME!

The difference between this list and the NFL All-Time list is that the NBA list does not break down by position. In the NBA there are so many times where a player's "position" doesn't really matter. The previous four seasons when LeBaby James played for Miami, he was the point guard when the game was on the line. The same goes for every superstar in the league that is not a center or power forward, frankly because they are so tall they can't dribble the ball for a long time.

Let's get into some details about how this rank works. There are five components that make up this list.

  1.  All-NBA (First Team): This one is sort of self-explanatory. This means that you were the top player at your position that year and you were probably one of the Top-5 players in the league that season. 1 Point.
  2. All-NBA (Second Team): Some year's there might be three ridiculous points guards in the NBA, but only two might make the first team (They would just add the other PG and Shooting Guard). This allows those people who just barely missed the cut to have recognition. Now there is a All-NBA (Third Team), which is just silly and doesn't make my list of possibly components. 0.5 Point.
  3.  NBA MVP (Regular Season): This one is more self-explanatory than the first. You were the best player that year. 1 Point.
  4.  NBA Finals MVP: I just realized this and you might be thinking it too, but is it necessary that I keep on saying NBA before everything when it is clearly an NBA post? Probably not, but I am anyway.
Anyways back to the NBA Final MVP. This one is on the list because the player stepped up and put the best performance out of his team to win the championship. In a sport that only plays close to 10 players on a single team, that is quite a feat. 1 Point
  5. NBA Championships: This was one category that I left off the NFL list, because the NFL has so many players that help win a title. In the NBA, like I stated just a moment ago, there is only about two handful of players that contribute on one team (that's 10 for the less educated). Sorry for the people missing fingers. "Poor Stavi." That was a reference to "The Ringer," starring Johnny Knoxville. Quality Film.

Anyways, back to basketball. Being on the team you contributed to win a championship. Jordan never would have one without Pippen, Rodman and his supporting cast. Well he might have won with a different supporting cast, but not win it by himself. 1 Point.

Also, the more you accomplish throughout your career is how great you become. Just because someone might have lit it up for three years, then didn't do anything, doesn't make him an "All-Time" great. Longevity of a player counts a lot. Ex. #4. Also in case somebody wants to make the Robert Horry reference, since he has won around 10 titles with various teams, a player has to have at least 3 points combined on All-NBA First Teams & All-NBA Second Teams.

So lets get to the list, eh.
